Overview
Designed to responsibly leverage plastic unique material chracteristics; taking advtage of its light weight nature and durability in a hiking setting. The flashlight passivly charges itseld from the walking motion of the user while on the trail.
Problem
Provide light during extended outdoor use without relying on external power sources.
Contraints
Energy output was low, requiring 10,000 turns of wire, increasing weight. The concept works but is not yet market viable
Goals
Design an off-grid product demonstrating responsible plastic use.

Outcome
The project resulted in a working proof of concept where a magnet moves through a copper coil (a solenoid) using a spring while walking to generate electricity for a low-voltage LED. Testing confirmed feasibility, though energy output remains limited and requires further development for market viability. The outcome demonstrates technical validation and responsible exploration of plastics in off-grid design.
